The view on the churches of Rostov Kremlin (the Metropolitan’s courtyard) from walking passage on the western fortified wall of the fortress. The bright silver onion domes of Rostov churches are beautiful from any angle and deeply impress visitors of the ancient city.

In background of the picture stands the church of Resurrection of Christ built by Metropolitan Iona Sisoyevich in 1670, in foreground – the attractive Muscovite baroque church of Virgin Hodegetria constructed in 1692-1693, thirty years later by Iona's successor, Metropolitan Iosaf Lazarevich.
