The reliefs of the Cathedral of St. Demetrius make a fantastic amazing world. There is the biblical figure of King David in the center of the carving’s composition. The images of animals and monsters, knights and birds, intricate flowers and herbs are posted around. Some researchers believe that these images reflect the heraldic emblems of the nobility, because princely coats of arms of XII-XIII centuries often contained images of leopards, panthers and other heraldic creatures. Such subjects were unknown and incomprehensible, surprising and even frightening for common people.
