Repetition of Victory Parade
The general repetition of Victory Parade in honour of 63rd anniversary of the Great Victory (1945) passed on May 5th. In the military parade on May 9th (Victory Day) will participate about 7000 members of the armed forces plus 400 troopers in mechanized military motorcades, but also it will be brought into play 32 aircrafts of Air Forces of Russian Federation.

On May 9th 2008 it will be the first parade during the last 17 years (after Soviet times and crash of USSR), when during the military parade it will be used tanks, rockets and even aircrafts reestablishing military traditions of our country to commemorate more than 27 million soldiers and civilians, who died during the war 1941-1945, and glorify might of our nations who were able to stand and to win the war against Nazy Germany.

During "The General Repetition of Victory Parade" on May 5th everything was worked out as like it will be on May 9th. Air Forces of Russian Federation will present 32 aircrafts which will finalize a grand parade on the Red Square on May 9th, 2008.

On this picture, which I was lucky to take at the beginning of Tverskaya street during the general repetition, you can see the last practice of our best pilots showing the imitation in-flight refueling technique right on the Red Square. On the top front is the huge four-engine aerial refueling tanker IL-78 (NATO code name "Midas") sending a special pipe from his tale to make connection with refueling probe above the nose of the strategic bomber and missile carrier TU-95 (NATO code name "Bear") which is at his back. They are escorting from right and left by famous jet fighter aircrafts MIG-29 (NATO code name "Fulcrum").

With BEST Regards,
Arthur Lookyanov
