St Basil Cathedral
The Intercession Cathedral on the Moat, which in the last couple of centuries became better know as St. Basil's Cathedral, was built in 1555-1561 by Tsar Ivan IV (the Terrible) in fulfillment of a vow, "because the Lord entrusted him, the sovereign, with the Kingdom of Kazan".
In front of St. Basil's Cathedral you can see the monument to the Kozma Minin and Prince Dmitri Pozharsky, the heroes of the national struggle for liberation against the Swedish and Polish invaders in 1610-1612.
I took this picture recently during Moscow by Night tour provided for my clients from Holland. Fortunately, I had a tripod this time and nobody from special security of the Red Square asked me to shoot only from hands (to use tripod on the Red Square for photo or video you have to make an official request in Administration of the Kremlin and to pay some fee, so I was lucky :-). I was even able to teach my clients how to shoot at night time with long exposure time, they were very thankful and told me that they are going to learn more about photography. I responded that, of course, you have to know some basic knowledge in photography, but the main thing is practice, looking on what are you doing as an artist, and having a will to make good works... isn't it???
