Zvenigorod
Trip to the old Russian city, which once competed with Moscow to be the Russian capital. Here you can see masterpieces of 14 and 15 centuries: Assumption Cathedral and Savva’s Monastery. On the way will be several interesting places - Bolshie Vyazemy, Ubory with beautiful churches and views of Russian countryside.
In the middle of 17th sentury on the grounds of Savvino-Storozhevsky monastery two palaces for the Royal family had been built during reconstraction, the famous craftsmen was invited and a lot of money from treasury were spent. The Tsar Palace was built for the Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich (father of Peter the Great), who liked to stay in the Monastery, and the building of Tsarina's Chambers was erected for his first wife, Tsarina Maria Inynichna Miloslavsskaya. On this picture you can see the festive Tsarina's Chambers from the side of the main entrance with the impressive porch.
Nowadays, the Tsarina's Chambers houses a historical museum with various exhibits showing us rare collections of medieval handicraft and art in the gala halls with multicolored portals and tile stoves. One of this exhibits, for example, called "The 17th century Boyarinya and Dining Chambers", shows the atmosphere of Old Russia we know from fairy-tales. The reconstructed interiors demonstrate ornamental embroideries, expensive Russian and foreign textiles, various samples of Moscow jewelry art (buttons, ear-rings), books, chests - objects surrounding a Russian woman at that time.
