This tall obelisk is located on the highest point of the Victory Square, which is the central place of the great architectural ensemble at the Victory Memorial Complex (shortly Victory Park) on Poklonnaya Gora (Low Bow Hill).

This monument was put up at Victory Square according to the decision of the Moscow Government in 1995. It is a classical three-edged stele with 141.8 meters (472.6 feet) of height symbolizing 1418 days and nights of the Great Patriotic War. The project was made by famous artist and sculptor Z. Tseretely.

The sides of stele are covered by bronze images of the main battles of the war, starting from the defense of the Brest Fortress and finishing by victorious fireworks of May 1945. Flying winged bronze figure of the Goddess of Victory - Nike - is fixed at 100 meters height of the obelisk. In her right hand she holds a shining Wreath of Glory. Two bronze angels blow Victory trumpets at her feet. It would seem to you that the monument grows out of the podium standing at the massive black and red granite blocks. A granite podium is placed at the small filled mound.

At the stele's foot a bronze equestrian stature of St. George the Victorious piercing the dragon with a spear stands on the granite platform. St George killing the dragon (here the dragon represents Nazi Germany) is the symbol of the Moscow city. Great Martyr and Victory Bearer St. George, is the patron of Moscow many centuries and this stature showing that the city could stop the enemies with the help of the saint... It was our first great battle near the Moscow city where Russians could stop enemies on October 1941 and even threw them back up to 100km!!!

With BEST Regards,
