The building of House of Russia Government (so-called Russian "White House") was built on the opposite bank of the Moscow-River from Hotel Ukraine in 1980. More than $300-million (US) was spent by the Russian Government in 1994 just to restore and renovate the building; more than it spent on development programs and fundamental academic research in the entire nation.
