Russian style porcelain "Gzhel" at the craft market Vernisazh. Gzhel is the name of the oldest and most famous Russian ceramic centre which is situated at the distance of some 50 km south-east of Moscow and known since XIV-th century as a home of potter's production. Gzhel is also the name of a village in this area and this name is applied to the beautiful artistic porcelain and majolica ware made there. |
