Here is the beautiful, really Russian landscape with river, trees and attractive white church of Transfiguration located on the site of very old royal estate and Vyazemka reber in Bolshie Vyazemy. The estate is remarkable not only for its beautiful architecture, but also for the fascinating historical associations. The church and the house at various times sheltered the ill-fated Tsar Boris Godunov, Napoleon and his officers at the head of the invading French army, and the remarkable Golitsyn family whose princes owned the property from the time of Peter the Great to the Bolshevik Revolution. |
