Bell-tower and Cathedral

Bell-tower and Cathedral

The Bell-tower and the Cathedral of the Dormition in Vladimir look very impressive inside the old part of the city.
The bell-tower is a tiered structure (56 meters high) built in an eclectic style in 1810 (architect A.Vershinsky). Behind the bell-tower you can see the Cathedral of the Dormition which was for a long time the principal church of Ancient Russia. This building started the formation of the distinctly Russian architectural school. Grand Prince Andrei Bogoliubsky began the construction of Vladimir's Cathedral of the Dormition in 1158.
